AEON Credit volunteers, along with participants from the Penang State Forestry Department, Malaysian Coastal Fishermen’s Network Education and Welfare Association (JARING), Friends of Malaysia’s Nature (Sahabat Alam Malaysia), and Universiti Sains Malaysia representing the Students Volunteer Foundation (Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa), planted 1,000 mangrove saplings at Hutan Simpan Byram, Penang.

This initiative is part of AEON Credit’s ongoing commitment to preserving the Malaysian coastline, following the planting of 1,000 trees at Setiu Wetland, Terengganu. In total, AEON Credit volunteers have planted 2,000 mangrove trees this year, surpassing last year’s total of 1,000 trees.

Including efforts at Kinta Nature Park, AEON Credit volunteers have planted 12,000 trees in FY2024.

The event was attended by Chris Lee Suat Ying, NRO Regional Manager; Mohammad Mursheed Ahmad Rohimi, Penang State Forestry Department; Che Ani Mat Zain, Malaysian Coastal Fishermen’s Network Education and Welfare Association (JARING); and Azrul Faizal Mohamed, Friends of Malaysia’s Nature.

These efforts align with AEON Credit’s commitment to upholding ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) standards, benefiting both local communities and the environment.
