AEON Credit Young Financial Savvy Programme at Felda Lurah Bilut

AEON Credit continues its commitment to nurturing financial literacy among the youth through the AEON Young Financial Savvy Programme. This initiative, inspired by the proverb ‘strike while the iron is hot’ or in Malay; ‘melentur buluh biarlah dari rebungnya’, underscores the importance of early education in financial matters.

The programme, initially piloted in 2018 with Orang Asli children in Pahang and extended to include special coaching sessions for teachers nationwide under the Malaysian AEON Foundation’s ‘AEON Smart Classroom’ Programme in 2023, exemplifies AEON Credit’s dedication to build a financially aware generation.

Volunteers from the Eastern Regional Office (ERO) recently conducted the AEON Young Financial Savvy Programme for 30 youths in Felda Lurah Bilut, Pahang as part of AEON Credit Carnival Lurah Bilut 2.0. The engaging activities focused on sharing items instead of making purchases, understanding the value of money and savings, and differentiating between needs and wants. The participants also received coin banks as giveaways to reinforce practical learning.

Rohaizah Badilah, a teacher from Felda Lurah Bilut Elementary School, commended AEON Credit for organizing this crucial programme. She emphasized the importance of starting financial education at an early age, noting that today’s younger generation often lacks basic knowledge in managing their finances, leading to potential challenges in quality of life later. AEON Credit’s proactive approach to instill financial wisdom in the youth is indeed making a positive impact on our community.
