SHAH ALAM – AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad (“AEON Credit” or the “Company”), a leading non-bank financial services provider in Malaysia, has officially handed over the Kad Prihatin Penjaja & Peniaga Malaysia (“Privilege Card”) for Hawkers and Petty Traders to 10 selected hawkers and petty traders as pilot-registered cardholders via the IN2NIAGA mobile application. The handover session was held in-conjunction with the Jelajah Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia for Selangor in Shah Alam.

The event was officiated by Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tan Sri Noh Bin Haji Omar, the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, and Rodziah Binti Ismail, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Housing, Urban Wellbeing and Entrepreneurs Development.

The Privilege Card combines the features of a cashless transaction and an AEON membership card to provide for faster, safer, and smarter transactions. It also provides the opportunity for hawkers and petty traders to make bulk purchases at AEON Retail outlets nationwide that offers a wide range of options with great value. Besides earning the points for every RM1 spent at AEON, cardholders will also be able to enjoy other benefits, such as the accumulation of reward points when they shop outside of AEON Retail chains, petrol stations, and e-commerce platforms. The Card is equipped with a distinct QR code that can be displayed at the hawkers and petty traders’ business premises to accept cashless transactions.

Through the IN2NIAGA mobile application platform, customers have a variety of payment methods to choose from, and cardholders will also be automatically enrolled in the Social Security Organization SOCSO) Self-Employment Social Security Scheme as an addedvalue benefit.

Through the collaborations with IN2NIAGA and SOCSO, the Company is in a great position to assist hawkers and petty traders to embrace digitalization in line with the increasing trend of cashless spending among Malaysians. AEON Credit aims to bring access to financial services to all communities through the issuance of the Privilege Card in its effort to contribute toward equitable and sustainable growth for hawkers and petty traders, which is also in line with the Company’s commitment to meeting the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

AEON Credit is part of AEON Group, a household brand name in Malaysia, in retail and mall operations and financial services, the collaboration enables the Company to penetrate the petty traders’ segment and further expand the AEON Living Zone by providing privilege benefits and rebates through AEON loyalty program to hawkers and traders who are the privilege cardholders.

The Privilege Card was previously launched on 27 November 2021 at AEON Mall AU2 Setiawangsa and is a collaboration with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (“MEDAC”), In2Niaga Sdn. Bhd. (“IN2NIAGA”) and Social Security Organization (SOCSO).
